1. WHAT IS ONLINE / MOBILE GIVING?

 

Online giving is the ability to use the Internet to give to a church, ministry, or nonprofit. Mobile giving is the same ability using a mobile device, such as a phone or tablet, to give.

This platform allows donors to quickly give by entering basic information such as name, email address, phone number, and debit/credit card information, along with the amount they want to give. They can do this during the normal offering time or throughout the week as they manage their finances.

 

2. WHAT DOES “COVER THE FEES” MEAN?

 

Our online giving platform is powered through Tithe.ly, which requires a processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. If you choose to Cover The Fees, this means the processing fee will be added to your total offering and the church will receive your desired amount. If you do not choose to Cover The Fees, the processing fee will be taken out of your total offering and the church will receive less than your desired amount. 

 

Let's use a gift of $75 on a VISA card as an example.


If the donor did not choose to cover the fees, the donor would be charged $75

and the church would receive a deposit for $72.53 ($75 - $2.48 (2.9% + $0.30)). 


If the donor did choose to cover the fees, the donor would be charged $77.55

and the church would receive a deposit of $75 ($77.55 - $2.55 (2.9% + $0.30)).  

Formula:

(O + $0.30) / (1 - (P / 100)) *rounded up to nearest cent

O = Original offering amount


P = Processing Fee (2.9% for VISA/MC, 3.5% for AMEX, and 1% for ACH)

      + $0.30 per transaction)

 

3. IS MY INFORMATION SECURE?

 

Yes! We take data and payment information security very seriously. All sensitive financial information is stored with bank level security. All information transmitted to our banking partner and on our site is done via an encrypted HTTPS (SSL) connection; and stored by our banking partner to PCI DSS Level 1 compliant standards.

 

4. HOW WILL MY DATA BE USED?

 

Your personal data will never be sold, traded, or given out to third parties. General information, such as your name, e-mail, and phone number will be shared with the church administrator for accounting, management, and tax purposes. 

 

5. HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN MY CREDIT, DEBIT, OR ACH IS CHARGED?

 

You will receive an e-mail confirmation every time you’re charged. You can also contact the church administrator to verify any charges.

 

6. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR MY OFFERING TO PROCESS?

 

It usually takes about 2-3 days between the time you give and when it appears in the church account. Depending on your bank, you should be able to see it under 

Recent/Pending Transactions.

 

7. WHAT IF I ACCIDENTALLY TYPE THE WRONG AMOUNT?

 

If you make a mistake after submitting the form, make sure to contact us as soon as possible to get a refund. Refunds may take up to 7 business days to appear back into your account.
